Archers make yet another appearance in Heroes V as everyone's favorite early shooting type. Still as useful as ever for that advantage they give early on (How would you get those sawmills with just peasants?), archers, like all beginning units, only become useful at higher levels when they are found in sickeningly high quantities.
Archers are useful in battle to weaken the enemy ranks before melee combat. The archers of the Griffin Empire excel in the art of overwhelming their enemies with barrages of arrows.
- Shooter: This creature can deal damage remotely. When the distance to target is more than half the arena, the target suffers only half the normal damage. Shooter cannot use ranged attack when blocked by enemy creature. If there's no Ammo Cart in the army, the number of shots are limited by available ammo.
- Living Creature: This creature is living so it can be resurrected.
- Scatter Shot: Area-effect shooting: damage is inflicted to all targets (including friendly creatures) located within the selected area (3 by 3 tiles). The amount of damage inflicted to each creature is equal to half the damage of a normal shot (activated ability).
